FFA
FFA is the premier youth organization preparing members for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. FFA is one of the components in the 3-circle model of Agricultural Education. The Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) and instruction in the classroom comprise the other two. All three components work together to create an educational experience that offers classroom learning, leadership and career development.
Mount Si FFA allows students to grow in leadership through participation in Career and Leadership Development events such as Employment Skills, Public Speaking, Dairy Cattle Evaluation, Livestock and Meats Evaluation. Students can raise market animals (lambs, goats, and poultry) in the school barn as part of their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project, learning responsibility, accountability, determination, and integrity, among other core skills, through their participation in these projects. Students in Horticulture learn the skills needed to grow vegetables and create and support the baskets and vegetable starts for our annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale. Students can choose to pursue proficiencies and other awards as well as their State FFA degree through their participation in FFA.
