Speaker Overview

Requirements for seniors to speak at graduation:

DEADLINE: March 29 at 11:59PM (NO EXCEPTIONS)
All seniors may apply to be one of two (or three) speakers for graduation.
The speakers will be representatives of the senior class

Application Process

Applications must include:

Graduation Speaker Application
Anonymous Teacher Evaluation (listed in the Application)
Written Speech (5 minutes maximum)

Speaker Selection Process

A limited number of speeches will be selected to present to the Review Panel (April 24th during Advisory).

The Review Panel will identify two to three speakers for Graduation, who are representatives of the senior class.

The Review Panel consists of Principal and/or designee, Student Activities Director, 4 teachers, ASB advisor and the Junior Class Board Reps. Students will adjust and practice their speeches before graduation with the help of an advisor teacher.

Speech Criteria

Engaging Speech/story, appropriate humor, clear message to class
Vision for the future or a reflection of your experience (or both)
Relatable by all in attendance-no inside jokes and meaningful for the class, and not independent students
Be unique and interesting. Keep our attention!
Under 5 minutes

Speeches will be disqualified based on….

Negativity- negative perception of school or peers, or clubs/sports, calling out individuals or programs, inappropriate humor
Profanity
